Bóbiska Ensemble

The Bóbiska ensemble was founded in 1999 in Plăieşii de Jos/Kászonaltíz, Hargita County, Romania. From the very beginning the professional leader and soul of the ensemble was the highly experienced now deceased choreographer Mr. Gábor Tomory from Gyöngyös, Hungary. After his passing the group’s professional leadership was taken over by his children Gergely Tomory and Kinga Tomory.

The scope of the ensemble is to preserve and promote the Szekler/Hungarian traditions from Transylvania. The ensemble presents various Hungarian folk dance traditions from the Carpathian Basin. The variety of the repertoire is matched with specific costumes peculiar to the region. The ensemble was named after the Bóbiska Mountain, the highest mountain bordering the Casin Basin.

Bóbiska ensemble has grown qualitatively improving its repertoire and very soon reaching the level of an almost professional ensemble. Instructed by competence and professionalism, the ensemble managed to impress its audience in every appearance on stage. During its more than 10 years of experience the ensemble accumulated prestigious awards and prizes.
